Point guard Juan Nunez, the 36th pick in last monthโs draft, has inked a three-year deal with Barcelona.
Originally picked by the Pacers on June 27, his rights were traded to the Spurs for Johnny Furphy and cash. Now, while playing in Spain, San Antonio retains his NBA rights.
Though specific details of his contract are unclear , reports suggest he can opt out and join the NBA during the 2025 offseason if he’s part of Spurs’ future plans.
Juan Nunez’s Journey:
Nunez played for Spain in the 2023 World Cup and spent two seasons with Ratiopharm Ulm. He won a German League title with them in 2023. In EuroCup games during 2023-24, he averaged 10.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game with solid shooting stats (.505/.361/.537).
Fans might wonder if this move will help him grow or delay his NBA debut.
Nunez is now one of two draft-and-stash players from the 2024 draft class; Melvin Ajinca from Mavericks being another.
Do you think Nunez will make it big in the NBA?
