Pistons’ Bojan Bogdanovic Might Debut This Season Against Cavaliers on Saturday

Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic is expected to make his 2023-24 season debut as early as Saturday, after recovering from a right calf strain.
‣ Despite Bogdanovic’s return, the Detroit Pistons are currently struggling, holding the 28th-ranked odds to win this season’s championship and suffering a franchise-record 15th straight loss.
‣ Bogdanovic, who averaged career highs of 21.6 points, 2.6 assists, and 32.1 minutes per game last season, is owed $20 million this season as part of the two-year, $39.03 million contract he signed with Detroit last October.

Bojan Bogdanovic, the Detroit Pistons forward, might be stepping back into the game soon. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski hints at a possible return this Saturday when the Pistons face the Cleveland Cavaliers at home.

Bogdanovic’s status was recently upgraded to questionable ahead of Thursday’s game against the New York Knicks. But, the 6-foot-7 wing’s season debut is more likely to happen on Saturday.

When it comes to NBA betting, the Detroit Pistons aren’t exactly favorites. They’re sitting at 28th place in the odds for winning the championship this season. Interestingly, the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets are getting better odds on the sportsbooks.

A tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) on November 30, 2023, reads, “Detroit Pistons F Bojan Bogdanovic (right calf strain) could make his season’s debut as soon as Saturday vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources tell ESPN. The Pistons — who’ve lost 15 straight — would be getting back a 21.6 point a game scorer from a year ago.”

Last season, Bogdanovic had an impressive run. He averaged career highs of 21.6 points, 2.6 assists, and 32.1 minutes per game in 59 starts. He also managed to grab 3.8 rebounds per game and shot 48.8% from the field. That’s his best since the 2018-19 season with the Indiana Pacers (49.7%).

Remember Detroit’s 124-117 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 11, 2022? Bogdanovic recorded a season-high 38 points, four boards, two assists, one steal, and one block in 35 minutes of action.

Bogdanovic, who’s nursing a right calf strain, could play against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons are on a 15-game losing streak.

Bogey was one of 11 NBA players to average 20 points on 40% shooting on 3-pointers last season, according to ESPN Stats & Information. The guy’s 34 and is owed $20 million this season and $19.1 million in 2024-25. This is part of the two-year, $39.03 million contract he signed with Detroit last October.

The Pistons are going through a rough patch. They suffered a franchise-record 15th straight loss in Wednesday night’s 133-107 defeat to the Lakers. This surpasses their previous record of 14 straight losses in the 1979-80 season, which was later matched in the 1993-94 and 2021-22 seasons.

A tweet from New York Basketball (@NBA_NewYork) on November 30, 2023, reads, “Heading to New York right now: The Detroit Pistons and their 15-game losing streak.”

Pistons coach Monty Williams admits, “This group struggles with adversity.” He’s in his first season after coaching the New Orleans Pelicans (2010-15) and Phoenix Suns (2019-23). Williams is determined to help his team fight through this tough time.

The Pistons haven’t won a game since they improved to 2-1 on Oct. 28 after defeating the Chicago Bulls. Last season, they finished with an NBA-low 17 games and two 11-game losing streaks.
