Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon can sign a four-year extension starting Friday, Sept. 27.
Extension Talks:
To get this new deal, Gordon would need to turn down his $22.84 million player option for the 2025-26 season. General manager Calvin Booth is hopeful about keeping him on the team longer.
“Hopefully we have some productive talks with his representation and are able to find a deal,” Booth said via
of DNVR Sports. “We want Aaron here for a long time.”
Gordon feels positive too, saying he loves the organization, players, and coaching staff and hopes they can finalize the deal soon (
).
Key Player for Nuggets:
Just turned 29, Gordon was crucial in helping the Nuggets win their first championship in 2023. He’s versatile on both offense and defense and has great chemistry with Nikola Jokic.
Fans really hope he stays!
Personal Loss:
Gordon also spoke about losing his older brother Drew in a car crash last May. Drew played basketball professionally for over ten years, including with the Sixers in 2014-15.
“I always leaned on my brother,” Gordon shared. “I understand I can’t take any relationship for granted. My teammates have been there every step of the way.”
To honor Drew, Gordon changed his jersey number from No. 50 to No. 32 (
). “It was my brother’s favorite number… it feels like home,” he said.
