Alright, Lakers fans, buckle up! We’ve got some juicy updates coming your way.
JJ Redick Takes the Reins
So, JJ Redick is the new head coach for the Lakers. Yeah, you heard that right. Jeanie Buss, the team’s owner, is all in on this move and wants to shut down the haters. In a chat on the Petros and Money Show on AM 570, she spilled the beans on why JJ was their guy.
"We wanted to think differently," she said. "He’s got a vision. I’m not comfortable talking about the basketball specifics, but we were looking for a candidate who would bring something new and really focus on developing young players."
Jeanie’s backing him 100%, despite him being a rookie coach for one of the NBA’s most iconic teams. "J.J. is the right person for us. He knows what this league is about, and I think he’ll be a great leader," she added.
Jeanie Buss says that LeBron James might be the greatest player of all time
“I’m excited to see what our new coach, JJ Redick, has in store. It’s definitely gonna be an interesting season for sure. I mean, LeBron, the way he played at the Olympics? He might be the greatest of…

Father-Son Duo: LeBron and Bronny
This season’s got a historic twist: LeBron and Bronny James are set to become the first father-son duo in the league. Redick is quick to squash any talk of nepotism. "Rob and I did not give Bronny anything. Bronny has earned this," he emphasized.
"Bronny talks about his hard work. Bronny has earned this through hard work," JJ assured back in July. "And for us, prioritizing player development, we view Bronny as like, case study one."
I think it’s pretty awesome to see Bronny carving out his own path. He’s got the skills and the drive to make a name for himself in the NBA. And let’s be real, having LeBron as a dad doesn’t hurt either.
Jeanie Buss Reflects on Family Dynamics
Jeanie Buss can’t help but draw parallels between her relationship with her late father, Dr. Buss, and the dynamic between LeBron and Bronny. Everyone’s wondering if Bronny will call LeBron "dad" on the court, but LeBron’s laid down the law: "At home, I’m ‘Dad.’ But on the court, he’s gotta call me ‘2-3,’ ‘Bron,’ or even ‘GOAT’ if he wants. It’s up to him," James said during an episode of The Shop.
Jeanie shared her own experience, saying, "You know, I never had that conversation with LeBron or Bronny, but in business situations, I always addressed my father as Dr. Buss. I wanted to keep that boundary clear because that helped us — we weren’t bringing work home to the dinner table. So I think LeBron and Bronny are very prepared for this. And I’m excited for them to have this opportunity."
LeBron’s Excitement for the Season
During the same interview on The Shop, LeBron couldn’t hide his excitement. "I’m so excited for training camp," he shared. "Having your son work with you is like the greatest thing. I can’t wait for this moment. It’s going to be pretty surreal for me. That might be the first time I sit back and think, ‘this is really cool.’”
So, what do you think, Lakers Nation? Will JJ Redick prove the doubters wrong? And how epic will it be to see LeBron and Bronny balling together? Let’s hear your thoughts!
