Franz Wagner & Gary Harris of Magic May Miss Games Due to Injuries

Orlando Magic players Franz Wagner and Gary Harris could be out for some time due to injuries sustained in a recent game against the Sacramento Kings.
‣ Despite the injuries, the Magic managed to fight their way back into the game, with Paolo Banchero scoring a career-high 43 points.
‣ The team also set a franchise record by making 25 3-pointers in the game against the Kings.

Franz Wagner, the Orlando Magic forward, and Gary Harris, the guard, might be out of action for a bit. They got injured during the 138-135 double-overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. Wagner’s got a sprained right ankle, and Harris is dealing with a right calf strain.

Wagner is a key player for the Magic. He’s the second-leading scorer, averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game. He hurt his right ankle in the first quarter after landing on it while contesting a shot.

When it comes to NBA betting sites, the Orlando Magic’s odds of winning this season’s championship are ranked 21st. The Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, and Atlanta Hawks are shown to have better odds by sportsbooks.

Paolo Banchero, another Magic forward, was asked about his feelings postgame. He had suffered a right ankle sprain during Wednesday’s game at Sacramento but managed to return to the floor. He was also asked about Wagner’s early exit against the Kings due to his injury.

According to Magic coach Jamahl Mosley, Wagner will be re-evaluated when the team travels to Denver for a game against the Nuggets on Friday. Wagner, 22, has been mostly healthy this season. In fact, he hasn’t missed a single game yet.

Orlando is already short-handed. Players like Cole Anthony (bruised right quad), Jonathan Isaac (hamstring), Markelle Fultz (knee), and Joe Ingles (ankle) are all out. Now, Wagner (ankle) and Harris (calf) have been added to the injury report.

Despite his injury, Banchero (right ankle sprain) returned to the floor and is not expected to miss any time. Even though the Magic lost, it was still his best NBA performance. Banchero, 21, scored a career-high 43 points with a 52% shooting from the field, 66.7% beyond the arc, and 78.6% at the foul line.

Banchero expressed his disappointment about Wagner’s injury. He acknowledged Wagner’s significant role in the team and expressed hope for his quick recovery. He also gave credit to the other players for stepping up in Wagner’s absence.

Despite the loss, Coach Mosley expressed immense pride in his team. He praised every player’s contribution and their fighting spirit. The Magic managed to fight their way back into the game late in the fourth quarter after Sacramento outscored them 40-25 in the second quarter. Jalen Suggs added 24 points in the loss.

For what it’s worth, the Magic set a franchise record by draining 25 3-pointers against the Kings. The previous record was 23 3-pointers made at Sacramento on Jan. 13, 2009, and at home against Miami on April 10, 2022.
