The Los Angeles Clippers have made another trade, this time involving recently acquired center Filip Petrusev. According to sources, the Clippers have sent Petrusev and cash to the Sacramento Kings. This move comes just a day after the Clippers acquired Petrusev in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, along with James Harden and P.J. Tucker.
Petrusev, who was selected 50th overall by the Sixers in the 2021 NBA Draft, did not make his NBA debut until the 2022-23 season. However, the 23-year-old center had an impressive career before joining the NBA. In the 2020-21 ABA season, Petrusev won the ABA League MVP, ABA League Top Prospect, and ABA League Top Scorer awards.
After signing his first professional contract with Mega Soccerbet, Petrusev went on to play for Anadolu Efes and his hometown club Crvena zvezda. In his most recent season with Crvena zvezda, Petrusev averaged 10.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in 34 EuroLeague appearances.
It remains to be seen if Petrusev has a future with the Kings, as they will now have a chance to evaluate him. Meanwhile, the Clippers continue to make moves as they aim to compete for a championship. According to NBA betting sites, the Clippers have the seventh-shortest odds to win this season’s championship, with better odds given to teams like the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers.
