The Chicago Bulls have made the decision to exercise guard Dalen Terry’s club option for the 2024-25 season, which is worth $3.51 million, according to sources. This move is part of Terry’s four-year rookie-scale contract that he signed with the Bulls in July of last year. Terry, who was drafted 18th overall by Chicago in the 2022 NBA Draft, had a modest rookie season, averaging 2.2 points, 1.0 rebound, and 5.6 minutes per game in 38 appearances off the bench. Despite his limited playing time, Terry had a standout performance on February 16, 2023, where he recorded a career-high 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in 28 minutes of play against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Although the Bulls have shown confidence in Terry’s potential by picking up his option, they are not considered one of the frontrunners to win the championship this season, according to multiple NBA betting sites. The team currently holds the 20th-ranked odds, with the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Toronto Raptors being the favorites.
In an effort to further develop his skills, the Bulls have assigned Terry to their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. During his time with the G League team last season, Terry showcased his abilities, averaging 19.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Bulls coach Billy Donovan believes that practicing and playing with the G League affiliate will benefit Terry and help him gain more experience. Donovan emphasized the importance of Terry getting playing time rather than sitting on the bench and watching.
Terry’s journey with the G League started on Monday as he participated in the team’s training camp. The Bulls hope that this opportunity will provide him with the necessary practice and scrimmage opportunities to further refine his skills. Terry made a brief appearance in a recent game against Detroit, scoring three points in just two minutes of play. However, he did not play in the game against Toronto and was also absent from the team’s win against the Indiana Pacers. The Bulls remain optimistic about Terry’s future and are invested in his development as a player.
