Aces Star A’ja Wilson Achieves WNBA’s First 1,000-Point Season

Already having one of the best seasons in WNBA history, A’ja Wilson achieved a league-first on Sunday.

Historic Achievement:

In the Las Vegas Aces’ 84-71 win, Wilson scored a team-high 29 points. This performance made her the first player ever to score 1,000 points in a single WNBA season.

Putting It Into Perspective:

To understand how big this is, only six players have ever scored over 800 points in a season. Among them are Jewell Loyd with 939 points and Breanna Stewart with 919 points last year. Wilson has now done it twice—this year and last year with 912 points.

Fans think this is just amazing!

Wilson’s next game could bring another record. With eight rebounds on Sunday, she now has 443 this season. She needs just four more to break Angel Reese’s record of 446 rebounds for a single season.

Amazing Rebounding Skills:

Wilson isn’t just about scoring; her rebounding skills are incredible too. She’s one of only four players to grab over 400 rebounds in a season, joining Reese, Sylvia Fowles (404), and Jonquel Jones (403).

A Career Full of Accolades:

Besides these records, Wilson’s career is already packed with achievements: two-time MVP, WNBA champion, Rookie of the Year (2018), multiple All-WNBA and All-Defensive Team honors, and two Defensive Player of the Year awards.

With newcomers like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark drawing more attention to the league, Wilson should get even more recognition as one of the best players ever—just seven seasons into her career!
